Going on vacation, that's one of life's pleasures, isn't it? But let's be honest, sometimes expectations are higher than reality.

You've been looking forward to it for months, maybe even set a vacation countdown on your phone. And then, when the moment finally arrives, it can sometimes be a letdown. You're tired from all the hard work, the vacation destination might not be as idyllic as it seemed in the pictures, and finding a decent restaurant can feel like an epic quest.

But let's talk about our own 'short vacation' concept, something that works perfectly for us.

We occasionally head out to Vila Vita Parc in Porches. A splendid hotel where many wealthy Germans are willing to pay 700 euros or more per night for a room. We don't stay overnight, but we do immerse ourselves in the gastronomic paradise of their restaurant Atlantico, which is considered one of the best dining spots in the Algarve.

The food is exquisite, the prices surprisingly affordable, and the view from the terrace overlooking the ocean is simply breathtaking. We've even developed a ritual.

Although the restaurant doesn't open its doors until 7:00 PM, we often find ourselves in the car by 5:00 PM. Why? To enjoy a drink in the lounge and savor that luxurious hotel feeling we adore.

And after a delightful dinner, we wrap up the evening with a final drink in the bar, where "live piano music" adds an extra touch of magic. It feels like a mini-vacation, just six hours long, but I can tell you, I love it!

So, if you ever find yourself in the Algarve and in need of a quick escape from everyday life, consider our 'short vacation' concept.

It might not be the traditional vacation, but it certainly delivers a hefty dose of happiness and relaxation. Cheers!
