Primal Power

It never stops amazing me. One short shower — sometimes just a few hours of rain — and suddenly the landscape explodes with color. The yellow plains, dry and dusty, turn into a carpet of fresh green grass. It’s as if the earth breathes a sigh of relief. That’s primal power. That quiet, unstoppable life force that waits, patiently, until something becomes possible again.

And really, the Portuguese are just the same. Gentle, kind people, but with that same raw energy running deep inside. They don’t complain when it’s dry. They know life moves in waves — sometimes burning hot, sometimes soft and fertile. And when the rain finally falls, their faces light up: “Finalmente!”

Maybe that’s what I love most about living here. The realization that nothing needs to be forced. Nature, people — everything follows its own rhythm. And when the rain comes, life returns too — to the fields, the air, and the hearts of the people.
