Sunday Never Leaves Polo 1921
There’s a place in Cascais where time doesn’t stop, but it slows down. Polo 1921, by the stables of Quinta da Marinha. You don’t sit upright here. You sort of lean into it. A wooden table, a parasol that almost wins from the sun.
Kids wander around. Someone calls out about horses. A buggy stands in the way, but no one minds. It belongs there. Just like that one glass of rosé that’s always empty a bit too fast.
The menu is simple. Pizza, salads, things you don’t really want to share but end up sharing anyway. The avocado is generous, like someone thought: why not, it’s Sunday. And that’s what it feels like here. Always Sunday.
You look around and see people with nowhere to be. No rush, no noise. Just a soft buzz and now and then the sound of hooves on sand.
Polo isn’t a place to impress. It’s a place to linger. And before you know it, the afternoon is gone. Without you noticing. Exactly right.
