Lidl Supermarket Extends Opening Hours in the Algarve to 11 PM 🎉
The Lidl in Almancil has extended its opening hours to 11 PM, now offering the longest opening hours of any supermarket in the region.
This is fantastic news for both locals and tourists who now have more flexibility to do their shopping. In this blog post, we'll discuss why Lidl made this move and what it means for the competition, such as Apolonia and other supermarkets in the Algarve. 🌅
Lidl has strategically chosen to extend its opening hours in Almancil, a popular tourist destination in the Algarve. Here are some reasons why Lidl made this decision:
By staying open longer, Lidl offers more flexibility for customers with busy schedules. Whether you work late or want to shop after a day at the beach, Lidl makes it easier for you now.
Competitive Advantage Over Other Supermarkets in the Algarve 💪
With longer opening hours, Lidl distinguishes itself from other supermarkets like Apolonia, Intermarché, Pingo Doce, Continente, and Aldi in the Algarve. This can attract customers who prefer to shop later in the day, giving Lidl a competitive edge.
Longer opening hours can lead to higher revenue. By being open extra hours, Lidl can benefit from sales to customers who might not have come otherwise. This is especially advantageous in a tourist area like the Algarve, where visitors may want to shop at different times.
Apolonia is one of Lidl's main competitors in the Algarve. With its focus on high-quality and imported products, Apolonia attracts a specific customer segment.
However, Lidl's extended hours could pressure Apolonia to also extend its hours to stay competitive.
In addition to Apolonia, there are other supermarkets in the Algarve, such as Aldi, Intermarché, Intercontinental, Spar, and Pingo Doce.
These supermarkets currently have shorter opening hours than Lidl.
Here is an overview of the current opening hours of major supermarkets in the Algarve
- Aldi opening hours: 08:00 - 21:00 - Apolonia opening hours: 08:00 - 21:00 - Intermarché opening hours: 08:30 - 22:00 - Pingo Doce opening hours: 08:00 - 21:00 - Continente opening hours: 08:30 - 23:00
It is likely that these supermarkets will reconsider their opening hours to not fall behind Lidl!
One of the benefits of extended opening hours is that it can spread out the crowd in the store. This results in shorter checkout lines, less crowded parking lots, and easier stock maintenance throughout the day.
Although longer hours may bring more staffing costs, this can be offset by more efficient use of self-checkout stations. If more customers use self-checkout, Lidl may save on the number of cashiers needed during extended hours.
