The Old Course in Vilamoura is one of those places that immediately feels special. Since 1969, this iconic golf course has been a landmark in the Algarve. Its location is excellent — just minutes from United Kitchen India Vilamoura, perfect for a delicious and affordable Indian meal, and close to Willie’s, one of the region’s most respected Michelin-level dining spots. Add private parking, a warm welcome, and a beautifully renovated Clubhouse, and you have a place worth visiting whether you play golf or not.

Inside, the Clubhouse blends the charm of a classic British gastropub with the elegance of a luxury club. Dark wood, soft green chairs, marble tables and warm golden lighting create an inviting atmosphere that feels both cosy and refined. The staff adds to the experience — attentive, warm and genuinely friendly. Maria from Brazil is one of those hosts who instantly make you feel at home.

The covered, sunny terrace is the real showstopper. Sitting right at the edge of the fairway, you get a wide open view over one of the most beautiful golf courses in Portugal. It’s peaceful, bright and the kind of place where time slows down in the best way.

The restaurant is inspired by the classic British pub, but elevated. Expect simple, freshly prepared dishes made with high-quality local ingredients. The menu covers everything from comforting pub classics to modern favourites — ideal after a round of golf, but equally suitable for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends.

What makes the Old Course Clubhouse extra appealing is the variety: you can order anything from a casual sandwich to a more elaborate dinner. It’s approachable, well executed and fits perfectly with the international yet relaxed vibe of Vilamoura.

Alongside the fish and meat dishes, the menu also includes a selection of tasty vegetarian and vegan options

It may not be the biggest vegetarian selection in Vilamoura, but the dishes are fresh, well made and match their gastropub style perfectly.

The indoor space feels polished yet comfortable — like stepping into an elegant country club with a relaxed soul. Soft music, warm lighting and thoughtful details make it a place where you naturally settle in. Outside, the vibe shifts to bright and summery, with sunlight filtering over the terrace and uninterrupted views across the lush green fairways.

Service is truly excellent: professional without being stiff, friendly without being over the top. It’s the kind of team that elevates the whole experience.

The Old Course is one of the most historic courses in Portugal, and its prestige is well earned. In fact, it was named Portugal’s Best Golf Course 2025 at the World Golf Awards — a recognition of the impressive transformation and the dedication to maintaining championship-level conditions.
