While the menu isn't extensive, it provides ample choices, ranging from seafood dishes to delectable meat options and vegan offerings like a Mediterranean salad with vegan feta (19 euro), the flavorful lentil balls with tomato sauce (16 euros) and the vegan burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion (25 euros).
Though some might expect a Michelin-star experience in such a majestic setting, Pestana Palácio do Freixo Restaurant Porto delivers a fine dining experience without the overly formal fuss. The service is highly attentive and friendly, and the historical setting adds an extra dimension to your meal.
A minor drawback is the absence of an outdoor dining terrace.
For accommodations, the adjacent red annex offers rooms with a unique view of the Douro River and the city.
